How To Load A Glock - It is sometimes difficult to load cartridges into the magazine. I want to help those of you who are struggling to fill out your newsletter, by collecting a few tips and adding some tools to make the job easier.

It is a good idea to start with the correct vocabulary. Magazines are not the same as clips. A magazine holds individual rounds in the tube and feeds them automatically during spring tension. On the other hand, the clips hold several rounds in a group, and this group is loaded manually into the gun. Pistols use magazines, while other firearms such as rifles use clips. Most rifles, like your AR15, use magazines, while others use clips, like the M-1 and Mauser.

The names of some useful magazines are worth mentioning. For example, a magazine follower is a plastic plate pushed by a spring into the magazine. you can see followers at the top of the magazine when there is nothing. The feed lip is the tab on either side of the magazine opening. Damage to the feeding lip will certainly cause feeding problems.

And let's talk about double stack vs single stack magazines. As the name suggests, a stack magazine holds rounds in a vertical column in a tube. Double sided tape creates two columns.

With this clear Glock27 magazine from ETS, you can see how the cartridges are loaded in the double magazine.

Make sure you have the right ammunition. I've seen the wrong ammo accidentally loaded into a magazine, and it's probably more common than people think. Then, know the front of the magazine. The magazine feed lip will appear behind the magazine (see illustration).

To fill the first round, hold the next round of the magazine. Press the back of the rotation to the follower. Push the guide until the cartridge is fully seated in the magazine. For all subsequent rounds, use the thumb of the magazine holder to push the upper cartridge into the magazine. As you push down with your thumb, use the back of the next round to push the top bar. Once the circle is depressed enough, position it by pushing it back.

If you have a semi-auto .22LR you probably have a tab on the side of your magazine. These magazines are filled in the same way. The difference is that the tab allows you to pull the follower so you don't have to push the cartridge in each round.

When the magazine is full, the spring weakens and it becomes more difficult to load more rounds. New magazine springs are tough, especially on small guns like the M&P Shield, Beretta Bodyguard, and Ruger LCP. Don't worry, over time the springs will break, and over time your hand will get stronger and it won't be too difficult.

For those who have disabilities, or injuries that prevent them from being able to fill their magazines, there are great tools that can help. If you fill hundreds of rounds in various sessions, these gadgets will save your thumb from blisters. I'll talk about that in a minute.

I recommend filling your newspaper as much as possible. Some say it can cause food problems. I've never had a problem with a loaded magazine not feeding properly. If you feel this way, it could be a problem with the magazine. Some magazines have an indicator hole on the back, so you can see how many rounds are inside.

With my everyday carry (EDC) rifle I fill my magazine to capacity, load a round, and load the magazine with an extra round. This increases my chances. Some guns work well in this process, however, some people have problems with feeding due to the pressure of the full magazine and the round in the chamber. I have not experienced this with many different guns from different manufacturers. But you should try it in the field before you take it like this.

The most intuitive way is to hold the gun in your dominant hand. With the gun in a safe direction, rotate the gun so that your palm is facing up. Carefully insert the magazine until it is fully seated. You may or may not hear a click when this happens. Don't be afraid to use force to do this. You won't break the gun and a solid strike at the base of the magazine will secure it well.

Here are three ways. All must be done when pointing the gun in a safe direction:

To remove the rounds from a magazine, simply slide each one toward the front of the magazine. You can use your thumb or the back of another cartridge. Each time you remove one step, the next one will be added and you can remove it in the same way.

The UpLula Mag loader is very easy to use. Not only does it ease the stress of attaching a magazine to a stiff spring, it speeds up the process and prevents your thumbs from blistering when carrying too much stuff.

This is one of the devices manufactured by Maglula (Magazine Loaders and Unloaders Accessories). They simply make a device to make it easier to load and unload any gun or firearm. The Uplula is designed for a single or double plate, 9mm to 45.ACP magazine. I consider myself old and don't mind a blister on my thumb from a good session, but I really like this stuff.

It is easy to use, stable and compact. The tool forces followers and allows you to include each round in each magazine. This undoubtedly makes adding a magazine easier and faster. The tool is not cheap at around $30.00 but if you struggle to load your mags this tool will change your life. And between you and me, I think I like this thing the most for attaching gun mags.

Slide the device over your newspaper. Click, to enter the mag and the chart depends on the followers. Then continue.

Place a circle in the newspaper. Release your hand and let the tab slide out of the magazine. Raise the device, insert the tab on top of the circle and continue.

Elite Tactical Sytems (ETS) is the company that makes the clear Glock and AR magazines you see. They also make two different speed loaders for rifles and ARs. The loader I have is a 9mm to .40 cal loader. This loader solves the problem of loading different magazines with UpLula. The magazine is loaded into the CAM Loader. The device has a rail that allows you to jump up to 10 steps above it, straight out of the box. A handle is pushed over the rail and pushed by the magazine. This forces the cartridges into the magazine very quickly. It takes a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be filling magazines in a flash.

The C.A.M. The loader from ETS allows you to quickly load your magazine when the ammunition comes out of the box.

Use the top chart to get 10 rounds straight out of the box. Then use the push tool to force the round into the magazine.

This multi-purpose plastic device is thin enough to fit in your bag. In addition to the 1911 bushing wrench, the weapon includes a tab used to help release the magazine and one to help release the load. The loading table has a slot where the cartridge sits. Using the tab to push down on the top of the cartridge, rather than the round you're trying to install, helps with alignment and makes inserting the cartridge easier. The hinged end of the gadget is used to easily remove rounds from the magazine.

This is another tool from the experts at Maglula. If you don't have the old high speed extractors and the 5.56 ammo comes with stripper clips, any Ar15/M4 owner will love this! Sorry to the gun-hating states, but 30 round magazines for your AR15/M4 are common, and we'd love to have more magazines. Loading the AR15 magazine is something I never tire of. For some reason I find it satisfying.

That is, there are times when you want to load quickly. You can do it with this tool! It locks into the magazine and you move a lever back and forth that allows you to quickly throw a round into the magazine. If that's not enough, this thing releases the press like nothing I've ever seen. Ejecting the AR15/M4 magazine by hand is not as smooth as ejecting a rifle magazine. With this device, you flip the magazine over and move the same lever forward, and the 5.56 cartridge starts dropping out of the magazine.
